Membership Information
Queen’s Park Camera Club (QPCC) is the oldest photographic club in the City of Glasgow. It is a vibrant photographic organisation with many active members, ranging in experience from complete beginners to professional photographers.
We have our own Club rooms which are situated in Glasgow's Southside at 54 Millbrae Road, Glasgow G42 9UG, where members get the benefit of access to our fully equipped studio for portraiture or still life work and to our extensive digital computing suite for photo editing and printing.
WHAT WE DO
We are primarily a group of amateur hobbyist photographers who wish to share our mutual passion for taking pictures with like-minded others. Whilst we do not provide accredited photography courses, we do offer lots of advice, both theoretical and practical, on all aspects of photography. We hold regular guest presenter meetings on Thursday evenings from September to May, covering a wide variety of photography genres. We also offer additional monthly instruction meetings on camera technique, digital image post processing, printing and mounting images and studio photography. Members are always happy to share their knowledge and experience, answer queries and help fellow members with advice. We also take part in regular print and digital photographic competitions, both internally and nationally. Even if you are not of a competitive nature, these are very useful for receiving objective reviews of your work and suggestions on how to improve. If at some point you wish to enter competitions or try for an Award for Photographic Merit we can guide you through the process and support you every step of the way. Whatever your favourite photography genre, you’re sure to find fellow members who’ll share your enthusiasm and open new horizons.
The QPCC Syllabus runs from September to May the following year, although we do organise photography events during the summer months as well. The annual membership fee is valid from September of each year and includes joining in all our activities, excepting some which may incur a charge for materials, external course fees, transport or entry fees for outings.
We are always delighted to welcome new members but we are restricted in the total number of members we can comfortably and safely accommodate in our premises, hence applications for new membership has necessitated having to manage a waiting list. As with all organisations we have a turnover of members each year and this allows us to minimise the time spent on the waiting list. We normally accept new members in August before the beginning of each new season. We also continuously review the waiting list in response to current membership and attendances and after New Year are generally able to invite several new members to join for the remainder of the season at a reduced rate. Invites to join QPCC from the waiting list is normally on a first come first served basis however the Club reserve the right to expedite membership under certain circumstances.
