About Us
Queen's Park Camera Club
AIMS OF THE CLUB
Welcome to Queen’s Park Camera Club, Glasgow’s longest established photographic community. The objectives of Queen’s Park Camera Club are to promote and encourage the study and art of photography in all its wonderful diversity. The club was established in 1945 to allow members to pursue their hobby in a friendly and supportive environment, whether they were experienced photographers or complete beginners. That guiding principle is as true today as it was then; hence we encourage members to participate in all aspects of the club’s activities, competitions and events throughout the year.
WHAT WE DO
We are primarily a group of amateur hobbyist photographers who wish to share our mutual passion for taking pictures with like-minded others. Whilst we do not provide accredited photography courses, we do offer lots of theoretical and practical advice on all aspects of photography. We hold regular guest presenter meetings on Thursday evenings from September to May, covering a wide variety of photography genres. We also offer additional monthly instruction meetings on camera technique, digital image post processing, printing and mounting images and studio photography. Members are always happy to share their knowledge and experience, answer queries and help fellow members with advice. We also take part in regular print and digital photographic competitions, both internally and nationally. Even if you are not of a competitive nature, these are very useful for receiving objective reviews of your work and suggestions on how to improve. If you wish to enter competitions or try for an Award for Photographic Merit. we can guide you through the process and support you every step of the way. Whatever your favourite photography genre, you’re sure to find fellow members who’ll share your enthusiasm and open new horizons.
We have our own Club rooms which are situated in Glasgow's Southside at 54 Millbrae Road, G42 9UG, where members get the benefit of access to our fully equipped studio for modelling or still life work and to our extensive digital computing suite for photo editing and printing.
The club is a member of the Glasgow & District Photographic Union (GDPU) and affiliated to the Scottish Photographic Federation (SPF), the
Photographic Alliance of Great Britain (PAGB) and the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP). We regularly take part in competitions with other clubs at local, national and international levels.
We believe that we are one of the friendliest and most welcoming of clubs and our aim is to try to make the membership experience a fun and sociable one, where everyone can get the most out of this fascinating and challenging pastime.
Our regular Club night is every Thursday at 7:30PM. Additional events take place monthly on various dates throughout the season.
Visitors are welcome as occasional guests of members for a nominal £2 fee.
Enjoy your photography at Queen’s Park Camera Club!
