The Glasgow Lanes Project

by Iain McLean
The Glasgow Lanes images were taken over the summer months of 2006 during daylight hours only (for obvious reasons!) and was shot mainly during lunch breaks from work. I had been interested in the differences between the empty, grubby back streets and the bustling main streets and the lanes appealed to my liking for the underdog, the forgotten and unused, and the grimy. The project was restricted to the city centre and was bound by Renfrew Street in the north, Blythswood Street in the west, Bothwell Street in the south and West Nile Street in the east. All pics were taken on a Canon EOS 5D, EF 24-85 and EF 100-400 Canon lenses. Saved as high quality jpegs, colour. Imaging via Photoshop. I am hoping to use these pictures to have a 'guerilla exhibition' ie. an unauthorised free public exhibition within one of the city centre lane.

The exhibition took place on Saturday, 2nd December 2006 which had a great success! This event was captured by Colin Mearns. See his photo reportage below.
